Emily felt the call to become a therapist after growing up with close family members who struggled with mental health. She personally struggled with addiction and other unhealthy coping mechanisms and after working through this part of her life, wanted to help others navigate through the hardships of their own lives. We all go through different seasons and we are not meant to do this life alone.

In 2005, Emily earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Augsburg College, followed by a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work in 2007 from the University of St. Thomas. She has spent most of her career working with clients of all ages who struggle with addiction and mental health. Emily offers a range of therapeutic services, including individual, family, couples, and group counseling, catering to adults and adolescents.

Emily’s therapeutic approach is the belief that the counseling process is a collaborative alliance with clients considered the experts in their own lives. She will work with you on finding your inner strengths to promote positive change. Emily uses various therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Family Systems. Her approach is holistic, addressing not only the immediate symptoms, but also the underlying issues that contribute to a person’s struggles. Emily will create a safe and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences with trust and confidence. She encourages clients to actively engage in the therapeutic relationship, expecting effort in the healing process, accountability, and participation.

In Emily’s free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. She loves reading and learning, spending time outdoors, and connecting with others.
